‘See and Be Seen’

This Mural is a prayer for the youth within these walls. I incorporated local cactus to symbolize the resilience and strength of the New Mexico people, highlighting our ability to thrive in challenging environments and doing so beautifully. The flowers in full bloom also represent our intuition to grow and blossom, reflecting the inherited wisdom of our ancestors and the thorns are their protection. The green design in the background carries seeds to honor our growth and our origins. The monarch butterfly signifies transformation into one’s highest potential. The monarch butterfly also undergoes an extensive migratory pattern, this honors migrant students and their families. The eyes within the Monarch wings are the spirits overlooking and guiding our journey. They are encouraging you to look beyond the surface and to see yourself and others with compassion and understanding, to see and be seen.
