What is Feminist Art

Featured in The Smithsonian’s Archive if American Art “What is Feminist Art”

”History without art is not possible and history without feminism is not history.

My work is created to tell her-story, not only to capture what women of today experience but to inspire and activate the viewer. Feminism in art allows for owning and expressing the sensuality and beauty of women without fear of shame or objectification by the male gaze. Feminist art today represents the different intersections of sexuality, age, race, class, gender, ability, language, culture, ethnicity, education, and so on.

Intersectional feminism in art is fluid. One woman may feel empowered by one thing while the other feels empowered by the opposite. Encourage and support the other even if it is not your personal choice. Judgement and encouraging “Social Norms” divide and oppress. Freedom of expression liberates. Being a feminist artist means creating and showing up for humanity.

Are just a few and my goal is to uplift and provide a platform for intersectional feminist and social justice issues with hopes that the work is a catalyst for positive change. To me

Black is the true “color” of feminism, not pink. Black is the inclusion of all colors, not the combination of two. My paintbrush is my weapon. Find yours and help us non-violently slay the patriarchy.

It’s our time, let’s fuck shit up with love.”
